How much do you know Him?
How much can you say you trust Him?
How confident are you in your maker, and if saved by His blood, your Lord (Master, Owner. God’s total possession of you and your total submission to Him).
So let’s say that you feel somewhat confident in God, you feel that you can trust Him and you know that He takes care of you and your family. You have seen in some circumstances already that He has shown His faithfulness.
Now I will add a plot twist.
You are faced with an extremely hot furnace and an angry King and he says that he will give you one more chance to bow down and worship his statue but if you don’t he will throw you and your two friends into the fire, tied up and with all your clothes on.
Now how confident are you?
How much trust do you have in the one you say you believe in now?
Daniel 3:16-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you on this point. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up!”
Daniel 3:16-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
But even if He doesn’t! Even if He doesn’t come through WE WILL STILL STAND FIRM.
I LOVE this!
Matthew 10:28New Living Translation (NLT)
28 “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
They understood that if they compromised themselves and gave in to the Kings command that they would be compromising their eternal future. Yes God forgives, but when you give in to evil, even just a small amount, that is all the Devil needs to start destroying your life and that is in fact his mission.
John 10:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].
John 10:10 New Living Translation (NLT)
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Jesus is the one who is talking and the thief He is referring to is the Devil, Satan.
The three men feared God and trusted in Him. They were willing to lay their life down and remain faithful to the one who is ALWAYS faithful. In my Bible’s commentary, I have a NLT, it reads Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were pressured to deny God, but they chose to be faithful to him no matter what happened! They trusted God to deliver them, but they were determined to be faithful regardless of the consequences. If God always rescued those who were true to him, Christians would not need faith. Their religion would be a great insurance policy, and there would be lines of selfish people ready to sign up. We should be faithful to serve God whether he intervenes on our behalf or not. Our eternal reward is worth any suffering we may have to endure first.
In fact, we are to count suffering for His name a joy and a privilege.
James 1:2-4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
2 Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. 3 Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
James 1:12 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 Blessed [happy, spiritually prosperous, favored by God] is the man who is steadfast under trial and perseveres when tempted; for when he has passed the test and been approved, he will receive the [victor’s] crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
James 1:12 New Living Translation (NLT)
12 God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Those men were pressured to deny God which we can see daily in our time. Every where you go the name of Jesus has been left behind and left out. People are ridiculed for believing in Him. I watched a great movie called “The Case For Christ” by PureFlix which came out earlier this year. If you are the kind of person that needs facts so did Lee Strobel, a journalist who wanted to prove his wife was crazy for believing in someone whom he thought never existed and was a fairy tale. Other great movies are “God’s Not Dead” and “God’s Not Dead 2” by PureFlix as well as “Do You Believe”. PureFlix has many great movies and they also have a website similar to Netflix but you can be assured your children won’t run into any inappropriate movies on PureFlix.
Two great songs that I like, about trusting God even if He won’t come through, are Even If by Mercy Me and Trust In You by Lauren Daigle. There are many more songs related to this kind of topic but theses are the two that I very much enjoy.
I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday and a thankful Thanksgiving and I might follow up with this blog so that you can find out if God did come through to show His awesome power or if they died in the fire believing in their Lord and Saviour. I am a wife, mom and a full-time worker so sometimes there’ll be months of silence on this blog until I make some time to type what I feel I am lead to talk about or comment on or just talk about whatever. You can also go onto BibleGateway.com to find out more about this story and truth about Jesus and many other things if you do not have a Bible.
Love you all!
Job 28:28 New Living Translation (NLT)
28 And this is what he says to all humanity:
‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom;
to forsake evil is real understanding.’”
